Celebrity Beauty Secrets
We all want to know how to look Red Carpet ready in minutes. This is a guide to looking polished for those who feel quite the opposite!
You’ve left it too late for a fake tan, your regrowth is coming through and your complexion is ruddy – all you want to do is curl up on the sofa and never leave the house. But, unfortunately many times this is not an option. Fear not! The team at Gemma Nichols Hair and Makeup Artistry are here to help. Having worked behind the scenes with celebrities for years, we know all the five minute fixes and we share them with you today.
The easiest way to look healthy and stylish is with a great tan. But, what if you haven’t had time to take a trip to the tanning salon? Our top tip is to try a good quality instant tan. Mix together some Sally Hansen Air Brush Legs and some Mecca Body Wonder for the perfect, natural look.
Fix the Greys!
As we get older, those nasty grey hairs begin to appear more and more – usually at extremely inconvenient times. When you have a big event just around the corner with no time for a permanent fix, we recommend using colour powder or crayon on the roots of your hair. We love the L’Oreal Magic Retouch for this. Go from ‘blah’ to ‘yah!’ in seconds.
Oily Hair Nightmare
There is no better way to ruin your self-confidence than unexpectedly oily hair. It is hard to style and uncomfortable. Never fear, dry shampoo is here! Simply spray all over the roots and then blow-dry your hair for one minute, upside down. This banishes grease and leaves you with lovely texture instead.
The Clock is Ticking and your skin is lacking some serious lustre
Picture this, you’ve been at work all day. You have a big formal event this evening, straight after you clock off. You’ll get changed in the bathrooms at work, but what about makeup? You’ve been wearing a full-face of makeup all day and it has gone cakey. Your skin has sucked it all up, you look tired and a little messy. There is a solution! Just spritz on some hydrating spray and watch your face come back to life.
If your hair is frizzy and you don’t have time to wash and blow-dry it, there’s a quick-fix. Just use a straightener on the hairline (the front and top) and then slick the rest back into a pony-tail. Smooth down flyaways and use some grooming cream (Amwecian Crew Grooming Cream is our pick!) and you’re ready to go.
Don’t have time to for a full facial? Need an injection of life back into dull skin? You can do the essentials at home for a clean and clear look. Firstly, exfoliate your skin with a scrub. Our pick would be the Glycolic Scrub by Skinstitut. Next, find a hydrating mask (Ella Bache do a great one!) and use that to bring some radiance back. If your cupboards are bare and you don’t have time to source those products, look inside your kitchen cabinets for D.I.Y solutions. Add some bicarb soda to your cleanser and try coconut oil instead of a mask.
If you want more texture in your hair then try some saltwater based surf spray. Bumble and Bumble have a great one which is a staple in our beauty cabinets to add a bit of texture and wave. Simply spray and scrunch. If you have time, using a hairdryer to apply heat will add to the effect. Not great for especially fine hair.
Worrying because you don’t have time to apply a full face of makeup? Don’t Stress. ‘Less is more’ has never been more true. Apply a quick layer of your favourite foundation mixed with some illuminator for a youthful glow. Next, add lots of mascara for definition and pop on a bold lip that brightens your complexion. This whole look can be achieved in under two minutes. A bold lip and fresh complexion is Gemma’s signature everyday look – giving her maximum impact with minimum effort!
Looking beautiful doesn’t have to be a chore. If you are time poor, our celebrity makeup tips are the best way to achieve a polished look without spending hours in front of the mirror. As industry leading experts, we know what works. Take a deep breath and get started!
