How To Wear Colourful Makeup This Summer

So we all get stuck in a rut when it comes to our wardrobe or makeup. We wear the same thing over and over again. Summer is coming so it’s time to refresh your look. Avoid those boring browns and try some fun tropical colours instead.

Coloured Eye Liners:

Colour pencil on the bottom lash line is trending at the moment. It takes one minute to apply but looks like it came straight off the runway. Pro Tip – try using a waterproof pencil and set it with the same colour eyeshadow. This will stop your makeup from melting and smudging on those hot summer days. I absolutely love all of Stila’s smudge proof liners and my favourite ever pencil is Carribbean Blue by La Biosthetique.

Liquid liner on the top lash line is a quick and simple way to wear bold colour. Skip the safe black and choose a fun bright colour instead. Greens, blues and purples really brighten the eyes and can be a fun twist on the conventional look. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner have some really fun colour choices.

Coloured Mascaras:

No, coloured mascara does not belong in the 80’s. They are back and better than ever. Burgundy, purple and blue are all making a big comeback and brands such as YSL, By Terry, Chanel and La Biosthetique recommend everyone wear them to intensify the eyes. Every time I wear coloured mascara people comment on how well I look. Coloured mascara’s are so subtle that you will still look sophisticated not girlie.

Colour Shadows:

Next time you go to put on your brown shadow try teaming it with an olive green (such as Chantecaille’s Emerald shadow) to make it more interesting. You can also use a copper gold to blend the colours together.

Beautiful deep blues look great on brown eyes. Blue is the IT colour for shadow right now. Tropic by Nars is the sexiest shadow I have ever seen!

Turquoise blue shadow is the perfect partner for your copper gold shadow and looks particularly good on a brunette with a tan. Inglot have a great range of blue shadows.

Purple is a great colour to use when doing a smoky look. It is such a wearable colour and can be teamed with a dark grey if you don’t want it too vibrant. My favourite purple is Jolie Poupee by Nars. Pro Tip – Purple enhances green and brown eyes.

Try a pretty pink shadow as your everyday colour. Pinks are so soft and pretty and can be worn with most outfits. I love Jest by Mac.

Bright Lipsticks:

Chuck out your safe pinkie brown and try shades of red, coral,  orange or a pink. Bright pink looks fabulous on pale skins and a vibrant orange looks great on a deep tan. Bright Pink -try Schiap by Nars or Fever by Hourglass. Bright Orange – try Red Square by Nars or Raven by Hourglass.

So go on, give it a go, don’t be safe, experiment and have fun with colour, you will love the results!
